Ray King Memorial Fund

Dr Ray King, whose vision and energy helped to launch Bridgemead, was determined that financial status should never be a barrier to accessing a place at Bridgemead. Donate to enable us to subsidise places.

For some residents, when they have reached the social care spending cap and they become dependent on the local authority, they face the risk of the local authority moving them elsewhere. It is our policy that, as long as a resident wishes to live at Bridgemead, we will enable that to happen even after they are unable to fund themselves. Residents move to Bridgemead and build friendships – moving them on elsewhere would be traumatic. The charity chooses to cover the difference between the cost of care and what the local authority would pay us.

Flood Resilience

We have designed a scheme to significantly reduce the risk of the River Avon flooding and of water getting into the home, thereby causing stress and danger to our residents and staff. Donate to get this built. The home has flood defences built in. But these addressed the flood risk anticipated 30 years ago. Climate [...]

Activities and Wellbeing

We want our residents to really flourish in their later years. Donate to enhance our activities programme. When residents arrive at Bridgemead, however much nursing they require, they retain the potential to enjoy a range of physical and mental activities that stimulate all the senses. Activities and events don’t just occupy residents during their days, [...]

Our bathrooms are probably not at all like your bathroom at home. Each one costs £12,000. The chairs, rails and other support equipment all cost money. [...]
